W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island

Khabari were invited by Aldar Properties to upgrade the exterior media façade lighting system on its landmark hotel, W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island.

The hotel, which spans across the world famous Yas Circuit, comprises two, 10-storey towers visually connected by the main feature of the hotel’s design – a steel lattice grid shell structure inset with 5,800 pivoting diamond-shaped glass panels. Khabari’s brief was to remove the existing grid shell lighting system and fully upgrade it using the latest in LED technology and lighting control systems.

Khabari was contracted to manage all aspects of a the project. From design and supply, to complete supervision of installations, we led a team of international lighting designers, engineers and project managers, working with our technology partners, manufacturers and programmers, to deliver the project start to finish on budget and within the 6-month deadline.

The W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island now has a cutting-edge media façade LED lighting system. With the capability of displaying dynamic content and more complex lighting sequences than previously possible, W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island retains a position as one of the UAE’s leading architectural landmark hotels.
