Avenues Mall is one of the longest walking malls in Kuwait. The concept behind the lighting design of this project was to integrate fixtures that will match and enhance the ambiance and theme of the walkways and public spaces in the mall.
The challenge for this project was the concept itself, which is why Khabari used a mixture of decorative, customization and technical lighting.
Our scope included the internal and external lighting. Together with our partners, we developed custom made technical lighting which included the catenary lighting. Along with our decorative partners in Italy, we customized a solution of a large chandelier – 7 meters x 10 meters – inspired by the Avenues logo. It is IP rated with 3,800 acrylic rods.
Khabari’s goal was to integrate large poles for the Avenues Mall which are the same as the ones found in Piazza San Marco, Venice. Modernized galvanized steel poles were altered to match the large scale of the mall and to enhance the ambient feel of the walkways.
We gave the Souq area an ethnic vibe to it, inspired by the old streets of Kuwait City we installed a customized solution featuring wall scones and chandeliers that reflect Arabian culture.
